THE 53 YEARS OLD BABY-By OGHAGHARE ESE FREEMAN

The baby has refused to grow. For so long she was in a gestation period. Finally was induced to come alive some 53 years ago. There were celebrations in the land as many had awaited her birth.


So much was expected of her. She was expected to grow just like every other child given birth to that same period. She suckled every teat at her disposal but yet her growth had since seen some serious stunting.

What could have been responsible? Could it be that she was malnourished? Was she reacting to her immediate environment? Or could it be she had some birth defect from infancy? Many question few answers.

This is surprising to all because she had access to all needed for her survival. Her mother had the best of care during pregnancy. She was delivered of the very best medicine had to offer. She had the best of food as regards to appropriate nutrition. The question on everyone lips is; what exactly went wrong? Could it just be that it’s her destiny to remain so? What a pitiable position she has found herself.

She has lost her pride amongst her peers. She is 53 years old now. She has the looks of a baby but definitely a grand-ma. She appears so true but in reality a Big lie. She appears so calm yet so loud inside; getting ready to implode any time soon. She looks so independent but so entangled. She celebrates her independence. Is she really independent?

Quite unfortunate we can't run from our very own. The monkey may be Ugly but her Mother nevertheless likes her any way. On that note I want to say Happy Independence Day Celebrations!!!!!!
