Leonardo DiCaprio's Palm Springs Pad

Leonardo DiCaprio bid farewell to his beach estate and is soaking up the desert sun in Palm Springs. After selling his Malibu home for $17.35 million, buying this architectural gem for just $5.23 million must have been a no-brainer. Designed by famed architect Donald Wexler in 1963, the home even packs Hollywood pedigree – Wexler designed it for actress and singer Dinah Shore. The home, which sits on 1.3 acres, is designed in classic midcentury ranch style. A single-level floor plan is accented by walls of windows and includes six bedrooms, seven-and-a-half bathrooms, and a detached gym and tennis court. See why trading ocean views for a backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains may be his best real estate move yet.

Facebook in a $3Billion Dollar Error

Never you give up on your struggles. This is the story of perhaps a pair of $3 Bilion dollar loss by the two big internet giants.

In the middle of 2009, Brian Acton was the software engineer that no one wanted to hire. Despite a dozen years of experience at Yahoo  and Apple Computer, he got turned down by two of the Internet’s brightest stars at the time.  First Twitter said no in May. Then Facebook rejected him in August.

When Acton couldn’t find work at another big-name company, he took his chances on the start-up route instead. Teaming up with another Yahoo alum, Jan Koum, he helped build WhatsApp, a Mountain View, Calif., start-up that has become the king of cloud-based messaging. WhatsApp is in the headlines this week because Facebook has agreed to buy the company for a stunning $16 billion in stock and cash, along with as much as $3 billion in restricted stock units  for the founders.

With at least a 20% stake in the company, Acton is headed toward a $3 billion net worth once the transaction closes. That rebound isn’t just good news for him. It’s certain to become a legendary story of hard luck, persistence — and vindication — among job-hunters worldwide.

I shared this storyi to young men like me in the street looking for that big break to remain resolute and determined. Your time shall come. What is in your hand? Use it. Faith without works is dead.

Have a lovely week ahead. It's your turn to shine. Don't stop believing.

El Chapo Guzman , the Mexican Drug Lord captured

The head of Mexico's sinoloa drug cartel has been captured by a combined team of Mexican and American forces in his home city of sinoloa.

A 2012 declassified report by the Institute of Defense Analysis (IDA), described the Sinaloa cartel as a powerful criminal group capable of laundering billions of dollars through a vast network of associations and front companies protected by corrupt government officials, security forces and private industry.

In a press conference in Mexico City Saturday afternoon, parts of which were shown on CNN in the U.S., El Chapo was shown neatly shaved, wearing black denim pants and a light shirt, while being escorted by Mexican Marines. This is the first time he was seen in public in over a decade.

Mexico’s Attorney General, Jesús Murillo Karam, said Guzmán was captured without a single shot fired in a hotel in the port of Mazatlán, a favorite tourist destination for Americans. Without elaborating, Murillo confirmed that U.S. law-enforcement agencies assisted in the operation.

The Mexican Attorney General reported that the operation lasted around a month and was triggered by intelligence that revealed that the kingpin was living in seven different houses which were connected by secret tunnels and sewers. In recent days, the Mexican press published pictures of Mexican Marines lifting sewer covers to look for El Chapo. So far, authorities have seized 97 rifles, two grenade launchers, one rocket launcher, 43 vehicles (19 of them armored), as well as 16 houses and four ranches.

Guzman is known to have escaped twice from prison in Mexico. He is touted as the Escobar of our time. We may yet see another epic escape that of the magnitude of prison break. He has done it before, he may well do it again.

Does this spell good news for drug trafficking into the US? I sincerely don't think so as his network of drug trafficking and money laundering encompasses continents. The last is yet to be heard of this evil genius.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

One day I said to them, Where is the God you worship? They said he was like Chukwu, that he was in the sky. I asked then, Who is the person that was killed, the person that hangs on the wood outside the mission? They said he was the son, but that the son and the father are equal. It was then that I knew that the white man was mad. The father and son are equal? Tufia! Do you not see?”

Defending gay rights around the world, as he has done at home, Obama said a bill that President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to sign will mark a "step backward" for all Ugandans and reflect poorly on the country's commitment to protect the human rights of its people.
