There is no doubt that the second largest continent in the
world houses beautiful women. Many have had their reasons of comparing ladies from
different parts of Africa. Some say Kenyans, South Africans while others say
Jamaicans. However, It depends on what you are looking for. A right combination
of intelligence, outlook and morals would do. Nigeria seems to have quite a
number of beautiful ladies as seen in the just concluded Most Beautiful Girl in
Nigeria(MBGN) 2013.
The twenty-sixth edition of the MBGN was held at Yenagoa,
Bayelsa State on 20th July, 2013, where the 18 years old Anna Ebiere Banner from Bayelsa State
was crowned Winner MBGN 2013. She would represent Nigeria in the forthcoming
Miss World Pageant in Jakarta, Indonesia later this year. The first runner-up,
19 years old Stephanie Okwu from
Imo, will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe 2013 competition in Moscow,
Russia while 20 years old Powede
Lawrence(second runner-up) representing Adamawa State will keep the
Nigerian flag flying at the Miss Tourism 2013 competition.
Sometimes we do ask ourselves whether these are truly the most beautiful girls in Nigeria. Many Nigerian ladies are beautiful and gifted intellectually. However, because of our culture, religious background and societal beliefs, many parents and guidance may not like the idea of show casing the sophisticated work of Papa God. Let us promote the African beauty and celebrate our God-given potentials, gifts or talents in a way that our ethics would not be compromised.
