DELSUTH To Commence Kidney Transplant Soon, Says CMD



The Delta State University Teaching Hospital, (DELSUTH), Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area will commence kidney transplant in a few months time, an official of the hospital has said.
 
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Leslie Akporiaye disclosed this at the 2nd Annual General meeting/scientific conference of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) of the hospital held recently at the hospital.
 
Dr. Akporiaye who was represented at the occasion by Dr. Abraham Inikori said that the hospital will soon send doctors and nurses to undergo training in Dallas, United States of America (USA) for this purpose.
 
... He said that apart from this, the hospital has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a South African firm to run DELSUTH laboratory, adding that the first set of laboratory scientists/technicians will travel to South Africa for a six-week training
 
The CMD explained that all these processes were to ensure that the hospital rendered good clinical services not only to resident doctors but also to consultants and make it the best in the country.

 
Also speaking at the ceremony, the DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Sapele/Okpe/Ethiope West Local Government Areas, Dr. Henry Ofa called on public-spirited individuals to assist government in providing health care to the people.
 
Ofa who donated 20 blood pressure monitoring instrument and 10 stethescopes to the association, noted that government alone cannot cater for the health needs of the people and called for the assistance of corporate bodies and other stakeholders.
