THE ROYAL RUMBLE (PART 2)- A SEQUEL TO THE PREVIEW- By OGHAGHARE ESE FREEMAN

Welcome one more time to the exciting series, ‘the Royal Rumble’ part two.
Exactly a month ago, I wrote the first piece of the series. Without mincing words I was unequivocal that the die had been cast and it was time to rumble.

You would bear witness to the very fact that we have seen some ruffling of feathers and a great deal of happenings just as the day goes by. In the words of the very popular grammarian, Patrick Obahiagbon; It very visible to the blind and quite audible to the deaf that Nigeria is hovering around a political Bermuda triangle.

Many had thought the battle was between the President and the so called rogue Governor, Rotimi Amaechi. To the political neophytes it is; but to those with some political maturity who can discern and analyse issues critically, the true gladiators are well known. Governor Rotimi Amaechi is just a patriot caught in the web of some Power gluttons with an undying thirst and quest for power, seeking political relevance in critical moments as these.

With much anxiety and anticipation as the public awaits the Star fight, what seems to be in the lips of all and sundry is the seemingly Implosion in the People Democratic Party (PDP). I beg to differ on that view. What I see is what I would like to call a simple protest in the PDP by the drivers of the new PDP (nPDP).

The new PDP is not and never would be a platform for the enactment of internal party democracy but a pressure group lobbying for a chunk of the cake the President craves to chew all alone.

Nigerians must take seriously the political game as it is been played out in the PDP. We may claim not to be members of the party; that true but we must also accept that it is the ruling party and decisions on the economy and policies being churned out affects all citizens no matter the party affiliation.

It would be foolhardy to be carried away by the Euphoria that greeted the registration of a supposed Mega Party which lacks credence more-or-less a National appeal.
They have since presented a 1940 Party manifesto; one which is not in consonance with what is obtainable in a 21st century Democracy. A party getting All Person’s Confused (APC), so evasive in addressing topical issues as it relates to their Party Agenda but so quick with lightening speed in throwing jibes at the very undemocratic party, the PDP.

It so disheartening that we have this crop of Devils handling our affairs. The future of this country is in the streets yet no one cares. They are busy shuttling one local government to another in the name of GRASS ROOT DEMOCRATIC INIATIATIVE (GDI). It is pitiable such a fellow is now the supervising Minister for Education; a golden trophy for a good job, in creating instability in the local polity of a state.
He boasts and brags about it every now and then that the elected Governor of State would not sleep. Of course true to his words the Governor we all know is now a political prisoner even in his residence. One thing the Wicked WIKE must know is that power is transient. Nyesome may as well be used as Ransom in this Political settlement. He may never be the Governor. The sit is not hereditary neither is it a birthright.

Nigerian youth shall remember your role in this ASUU strike and would rise up against your candidacy.
Key game changers to watch out for in this upheaval includes the seven (7) governors representing the powerful Nigerian governors Forum(NGF), Baba Iyabo, Atiku representing the nPDP, the Ever mercurial Maradona and respectfully,Mr. President.

As usual in every negotiation grounds are shifting, Political largesse well distributed, Business interest well protected, Oil blocs on the table, Ministerial disengagements and re-engagements, Gold phones already ordered by unseen hands( Umbrellas as souvenirs not accepted anymore).

As many of you still thinking and dreaming of this upheaval disintegrating the PDP, you had better wake from slumber. I am not a member of any party, don’t get it twisted. In a few days time, it would become crystal clears the game the PDP has up its sleeves after the reuniting of the party. The PDP is too conscious as many would go hungry if it so happens the Party disintegrates.

We await more intrigues to fall out from the settlements and agreements that would arise any time soon. The casualties and the victors would emerge; as this is the seeding method to know those who represent each group in the final Match.

On this note I want to commiserate with families of the Agagu’s and Ondo State people who lost an illustrious son so suddenly. Lessons we must take home from his death is that we own not our lives. Absolute Power belongs to God. We shall meet him when he so pleases. Let us do what is right and always Act right. The questions that should be our mouths and hearts is- what shall we be remembered for?
