Rejoinder:Waiting for implosion of APC- Chioma Gabriel

The All Progressives Congress seems to be having an owambe party all over Nigeria; from the North to the South and is getting all the media attention required. The party also appears to be mocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and celebrating the implosion of the ruling party.

But somehow, there is always this nagging feeling that just like the PDP, the APC is also an accident waiting to happen. The opposition party seems to be disappointing in many fronts and some nagging questions are beginning to come to mind - These were the opening remarks of Chioma Gabriel in her piece, "Waiting for the Implosion of APC".

If PDP is such a bad party and APC has the right answer, why won’t it leave PDP alone and do it’s own thing? Why is APC looking for the living in the land of the dead? What is responsible for this frantic efforts to lure aggrieved PDP members into APC? Is APC hoping the best people to run for elections still belong to the corrupt and ‘dead’ PDP? Would champions of corruption rebuild Nigeria? A dog should not go back to it’s own vomit. So why would opposition be looking for ‘corrupt and incredible’ PDP members to fill up their numbers?!

The statement is an excerpt of some valid seamy questions being asked by the Chioma Gabriel. In some of my humble write-ups I have always had the position that the APC is not the Messiah Party Nigerians should hinged their hopes and aspirations on to bring any change or succour to the precarious situation Nigeria finds itself today. For emphasis sake I call them a Party getting ALL PERSONS CONFUSED(APC). The crop of politicians are no different. There is nothing fresh about the Party; Just a conglomerate of hitherto disgruntled members of the Undemocratic PDP. Its a splinter group meddling with a few who have same ideologies with some sentimental Regional Bigotry running in their blood. I share with you some more thought provoking questions we need ponder upon as elucidated by Chioma Gabriel.

But what is really baffling is the fact that opposition is contradicting itself. How can it be courting the friendship of members of a party it considered so bad? The way I see things, APC will implode in the nearest future considering the way things are going.

Come to think of it, will the G-7 governors, majority of whom are former President Obasanjo’s men, go contrary to the way of their master? Or is OBJ using them to let certain things sink in the psyche of the powers that be?

In Sokoto State, one is not sure how APC would fare as the former Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, rejected any possibility of the party structure being handed over to Governor Aliyu Wamakko?

Would Shekarau of APC be able to work in tandem with his political rival, Kwankwaso, in Kano State? Governor Ibrahim Shekarau had reportedly rejected Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s bid to join the APC and described them as rebels and trouble makers. If APC succeeds in Kwara, where will that leave the governor’s godfather, former Gov Saraki?

There is this saying in pidgin English, "Soup wey U nor wan eat, Nor Use your Teeth take share the Meat". The writer may not be too far from the truth. If PDP is so bad why invite the so-called corrupt members?

These Governors are a constituent of the Party. It goes to show you the Agenda of the Opposition. We wait to see How they would navigate and enshrined Internal Democracy in their selection process of candidates in the forth coming Elections. Am not expecting anything less than shouts and cries.

The party leader has not demonstrated anything different from the godfatherism we see in the PDP. He has turned Political positions in Lagos State to a family affair where Key Positions are held by Himself, the wife, the daughter and Son-in laws. It is so sad that people from the Western region see nothing wrong with his actions because they are so blinded by Regional Bigotry.

I like respect people like in the person of Fani Kayode who has not pretended to be convenient we the concept of One Nigeria as it is being practiced His position is clear and I like people who are fearless and truthful to their conscience unlike some who hide under the guise of One Nigeria when infact they are Hypocrites.

While we enjoy the turn of events as witnessed in the PDP, we wait to see same Implosion happen in the APC. Where do we go from there? Only time shall tell. I pray for this Nation that God would help us navigate this difficult bend in our political history.
