Whistle blower who exposed Scholarship fraud in Delta State still inPolice custody

It is rather appaling that politicians and their associates most times tend to make it more obvious that they do engage in some unwholesome activities when engaged with some quality evidence by trying to circumvent the truth by dubious means. I would have thought that when faced with an allegation of such magnitude of financial embezzlement of public funds what is right is to put the records straight in a more transparent matter. This is not the case these days. It reminds me of the past gory days where it is dangerous course to speak out for justice. I hope my opinion would not trigger men in plain clothes coming after me.

Sahara reporters has it in their publication that the young man by name Ambrose Ezeawani, the whistle-blower who exposed the fraud being perpetuated in the scholarship and bursary scheme in Delta State is still being detained by the Police at Sabo, Yaba in Lagos State.

Ambrose was cornered on Wednesday by the strange men, numbering eight in a vehicle. They were trying to force him into their car over his active role in exposing the scam perpetrated by officials of the Delta State scholarship board.
He had made loud noise and gathered crowd to escape being abducted. Upon gathering by the crowd, the men had claimed they were sent from Delta State to secure his arrest. They claimed he was wanted in Asaba by the police. Ambrose however insisted he would go to a nearest Police Station in Lagos where he was sure he could be safer in a Government facility than following those who may be taking him far to unknown place.
He arrived Sabo Police Station in a separate taxi cab after refusing to join the strangers in their car.
Upon their arrival at the Police Station, one of the men, who apparently supervised the men to force him into the car identified himself as the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Uduaghan on Student Matters. He claimed Ambrose was wanted for fraud in Delta State. An altercation had reportedly ensued, where Ambrose said he had been openly demonstrating and exposing how Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Mr. Hope Eghagha had been siphoning funds meant for students’ bursary into personal account.
Ambrose had published official list of Students from Delta State and contrasted with the fake list, with over 23,000 fake names to which the money is paid by office of the commissioner.
The men told police officers at Sabo that they were on mission to help police get him at Asaba. However, police declined to release Ambrose for them after they could not provide any evidence that he was truly wanted.
The strange men and the SSG to Governor Uduaghan, who supervised them, said they were going to Asaba to bring evidence. They did not return however, until Friday. They showed no convincing evidence than asking to take him away. Policemen at Sabo Police Station have however denied them their request and have continued to detain him.
Ambrose said he was convinced it was an attempt to abduct him but he was lucky to have called the crowd on them and made it to the Station. He said he would file charges against Mr. Hope Eghagha on whose sponsorship the strange men were to abduct him in guise of being wanted by the police.
I urge the commissioner to see to it that he responds to these allegations and stop embarrassing the Government and good people of Delta State.
