Sahara Reporters has it that a One time Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore has won the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Osun State governorship elections scheduled for 9th August 2014.
Omisore polled 1,128 votes to leave his closest challenger, Senator Olasunkanmi, in the dust with 45 votes.
Honourable Wole Oke had four votes. Senator Isiaka Adeleke However polled out from the contest at the eleventh hour, citing the “desperation and determination of an aspirant” (believed to be Omisore) to “maim and kill to secure the ticket at all costs”.
Omisore — who infamously won a senatorial slot in 2003 while in prison for two years standing trial for the murder of late Bola Ige — will contest the election with current Governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola (APC); former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Fatai Akingbade (Labour Party); and former Head of Service, Segun Akinwusi (UPN). I see the APC Governors having some good challenge for their seats. We wait to see the outcome from Ekiti State where would stand out as the testing ground for the prowess of these to parties in future elections.
