Militarily, Africa is fast becoming an American continent. Barack Obama, who has been president for all but the first year of AFRICOM’s existence, has succeeded in integrating U.S. fighting units, bases, training regimens, equipment and financing into the military structures of all but a handful of African nations. The great pan-Africanist and former Ghanaian president Kwame Nkrumah’s dream of a militarily united Africa has been all but realized – with Americans and Europeans in charge. Under the guise of “humanitarian” intervention, Obama has vastly expanded Bill Clinton and George Bush’s African footprints, so that only a few patches on the continental map lie outside Washington’s sphere of operations. Eritrea and Zimbabwe are the notable exceptions – and, therefore, future targets.

[Read]Why Our, Girls Are Not Back- Dele Momodu
Fellow Nigerians, it is now three weeks since over 200 female students
were abducted from their hostel without any trace whatsoever. The matter
has become more complicated than a jigsaw and the more we look, the
less we see. I used to think the game of abracadabra was limited to the
illusory world of magic but this calamity has stretched our imagination
even beyond superstition. There are just too many questions begging for
answers. What I find most baffling and disgraceful is the debate over
whether the girls truly vanished or not. Some have insinuated that it is
all a game of politics just to make the government of President
Goodluck Jonathan look so bad and incompetent. What nonsense! This is
symptomatic of how far our nation has gone neurotic.

It was now a matter of the sentencing, and what sort of punishment each
would receive in the case. Yet, their attorneys have delayed sentencing
over the last nine months on a number of legal procedures,
postponements, and technicalities.

How Boko Haram Gets Its Weapons
Boko Haram is conducting its campaign of terror in the northeastern states of Nigeria and neighboring Cameroon on the cheap, making mayhem with a makeshift collection of small arms, automatic weapons, rifles, rocket- propelled grenades and mortars, experts on the turbulent region say.
According to US network TV NBC, most of the Islamic terror group’s
weapons are either stolen from Nigerian military stocks or purchased on
the thriving Central African arms black market, say the experts,
including current and former U.S. officials.

Brazilian police to a wear a 'Robocop' suit during the World Cup
I guess If this doesn't strike fear into angry soccer fans,
perhaps nothing will. Police in charge of patrolling next month's World
Cup in Brazil are going to wear a 22-pound, flame resistant "Robocop" suit
that, to put it bluntly, looks extremely intimidating. Built using
heavy duty plastic, the suit protects officers' back, chest, and
shoulders, and includes a mask to protect from pepper spray. There's
also a belt to hold weapons and handcuffs.

According to The week, Sen. John McCain who is a consistent, vocal hawk, told The Daily Beast's Josh Rogin
that, as president, he would send troops to Nigeria "without permission

surprising, though, is his less-than-diplomatic way of referring to the

Over 1 Billion people still practice Open Pooing Worldwide Experts Says
Do you know that in Sub-saharan Africa Nigeria is the worst offender, with 39 million open defecators in 2012 compared to 23 million in 1990?
Societies that practice open defecation significantly poses them at risk from cholera, diarrhoea, dysentry, hepatitis A and typhoid which tend to have large income disparities and the world's highest numbers of deaths of children under 5 years old.
Attempts to improve sanitation among the poorest have long focused on building latrines, but the United Nations says that money literally went down the toilet. Attitudes, not infrastructure, need to change, it said.

Bigots Masquerading As Muslims- Buhari
In his most pointed denunciation of the Boko Haram insurgency, former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), yesterday, urged Nigerians to put aside politics and all other divisions to crush the insurgency he said is fanned by mindless bigots masquerading as Muslims.
Affirming that the group does not portray the Islamic faith he practices, Buhari told the group that the world is united against its evil.
Buhari, a leading opposition political figure, in the statement made available to Vanguard, sympathised with the immediate families of the girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram group, saying he shared their pains as a father and grandfather.

The Haramity of Boko Haram- Fani Kayode
My worst fears have been confirmed and sadly the Haramites of Boko have struck again. Another terrible bomb blast has taken place in Abuja and many innocent people have been butchered, slaughtered and maimed.
At the last count the number of those killed is no less than 39 despite attempts by the international and local media to play the number of casualties down.
This damning display of primordial and pure savagery by Boko Haram comes barely two weeks after over 100 innocent people, including women and children, were killed by another bomb, on the same spot and by the same people. This is surely too much for us to bear.
